Houston news report sites GSPC disparity study of Port Authority showing contracts underrepresented by minority- and women-owned businesses
National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate Houston Public Media reported that the Port of Houston is making efforts to increase contracting with women- and minority-owned businesses as a result of the findings of an independent disparity study performed by Griffin & Strong, P.C.
The findings will be used to support enhancements to the Port’s small business program, the public broadcasting news agency reported on Monday.
"It shows that we have a lot of work to do going forward to provide what we have been talking about for a long time, which is social, racial and economic equity for the community," Port Commission Chairman Ric Campo told Houston Public Media in the Dec. 14 report.
